The community of Tzununá
Why a community center in Tzununá?

An inspiring community spirit

Tzununá is a small village of around 2,000 residents — primarily indigenous Maya who speak Kaqchikel — and about 30 foreigners, on the shores of Lake Atitlán in the municipality of Santa Cruz la Laguna. Despite economic disadvantages and systemic social issues, Tzununá is a village with an inspiring community spirit.

A hub for the village

The Community Center

The new Community Center will be the hub of educational, cultural, economic and social empowerment for Tzununá's citizens — a place for young people and their families to get involved in opportunities for growth.

  • A library
  • A computer lab
  • A music & art academy
  • A cooperative storefront & café
